Invitation Provocateur (formerly Anti-Lap Dance) is an improvised neo-burlesque solo exploring burlesque as unruly and monstrous/beautiful through contemporary dance, striptease, audience engagement and a failed lap dance. I embody the femme fatale and the fool, through my experiences as a bisexual woman. Past iterations have mythologized into my beloved burlesque persona Lovina Tease. Through subverting playback theatre forms Tease invites the audience to share embarrassing sex stories with the “exotic other”, satirizing and making light fun of their stories in an effort to help kill our pains with pleasures. Tease re-imagines narratives and memories of Romanian-ness, whiteness, and queerness and remembers the strong femmes who made her who she is.
