Teaching Philosophy

Bell Hooks is one person who inspires my approach to pedagogy. I approach any learning enviornment as a transgressive learning container were eros, celebration, and critical thinking are welcomed. Where the body is a vessel in which our personally lived experiences can become expressed and re-imagined. In this container there is the opportunity to connect and share individually and collectively through the cultivation of learning as a pleasurable practice. Permeability is also a characteristic of the container. Where the lines between “inside the classroom” and “outside the classroom” become blurred. Where questions about what happens outside of the classroom can live inside the classroom through exploring and pushing our vessels capabilities. I feel a learning experience becomes transgressive when it approaches a point of collective ecstasy, or when its realized the container is also a part of life or both.
