The Thirst Is Real is an in-process neo-burlesque performance bringing to light Florida’s climate change issues, focusing on water quality. Through improvisation, slapstick humor, burlesque, dance, vaudeville style games for the audience, it resists corporate greed, transforms Primo Water’s sustainability narratives, and stages the past, present, and possible future consequences and solutions of and for over-pumping the Floridan Aquifer. The end of the performance includes a talkback with the audience about everyone’s experiences with climate change, water quality issues, how those makes them feel, and an offering for what to do through signing a petition for clean water in Florida.
